avatar of abbadon
for xx seconds you steal 100 points of balthazar faction with every successful hit and anyone you kill cannot be rezzed.
that would make my day.
(i dont think we will get any Avatar of abbadon/dhuum/margonite power/ or anything like it)

The story for Prophecies, while fun, wasn't exactly original material. If anyone posting here had any play during the beta, it kind of felt like it was a hodge-podge of a bunch of cliche ideas thrown together.
Not bad, no. But it certainly didn't wow me at any point.
As for Factions, I was a bit confused by its story direction. So, we have a villain who's a villain because he.. SPOILERS AHEAD

.. killed the emperor because the emperor was going to kill him because he was too powerful, and now he's angry because he died because he killed the emperor--so he's going to throw the universe out of alignment?
A real bang-up job as casting him as the reluctant villain, Anet.
It had a real great start, but.. once you realized both his motivations and the emperor's motivations, it became a kind of "DUR" story.
Nightfall, so far, has been real entertaining. Here's hoping the folks at Anet don't bungle the story again. ;P
|
Actually... We don't know if he was gonna kill him. It is only the words of the fortune teller. Who knows, she could have lured him into killing him? Yes, I agree it was still a lame reason for him to kill. But that twist certainly adds a lot. Was he merely a pawn, being played by the fortuneteller?

1+1+1=3
What if we were to fight Varesh as part of the storyline, and she had the skill "Avatar of Abaddon", allowing her to transform into her god? This would of course be a monster skill, and thus not available for capture.
Thoughts? Comments?

Read the bolded part. When will people learn to at least read the original post? I never suggested this would be available to us. Just in the game, as a monster skill.

yo Zex- in case you cant tell I was joking :P
Can you imagine the amount of pissed off people if other people could steal away their faction??? lol
And additionally- I think Shiro is the most interesting character in GW to date. He alone made the Factions story interesting. well duh i know i guess there wasnt a story without him.... I just think they did a good job at portraying his madness, or as you pointed out- there is just as much mystery left to the story even AFTER its all said and done. Thats the best part to me, is the continued mystery of some of these key world-issues in the land of guidlswar

If there is an Avatar of Abaddon, it won't be useable by players, of course.

Who knows? Perhaps they have made one for players to use, but choose not to add it in the previews? You never know
And Horseman, I was more refering to the "if we get one, it will not be for players", not the skill effect

before the new trilogy, thats exactly what you got about darth vader. all you know about him is that he was a jedi that turned to the darkside, then went on a jedi-killing spree all over the galaxy. it didnt dull the experience of the original trilogy at all (in fact, the new trilogy completely screwed everything up, but thats another point entirely), nor did it sully the image of his character. darth vader was actually cooler before we knew what anakin was like, because he was a pure cold blooded villain, not some whiny insecure and misguided boy trapped in a black suit.
a good story doesnt need pages and pages of backstory and exposition for it to be understood and entertaining, especially in the small doses guild wars gives you a story in.

You all forget that we already met Abbadon (sp?) in Factions.
In the guise of the Fortune Teller.

Hehe. Well ANET was formed from former Diablo devs. I can almost imagine future avatar forms. Like the an avatar that uses the model of Diablo from.... well Diablo.... Or maybe the Avatar of Bovinius and it turns you into a cow from the secret cow level, pitchfork and all. Moo?

Her mind is warped by Abaddon. In the last mission during the Preview Event (I believe, or quest), you have to stop the evil presence from corrupting minds.
Plus, an Avatar of Abaddon skill would be useless other than PvP, simply because the storyline is you FIGHTING AGAINST Abaddon. It would be in complete contradiction.
Plus.. unessesary. The Dervish is -all- about the five gods. Down to the armor and weapon (I dunno how, but they are..). Th eonly acception are the few corrupted by the Ebil One himself.
I wouldn't want to see a skill like that. Just my opinion, of course.
Moo moo moo, moo-moo.
EDIT: Yes, I did read the first post. This is my opinion about it being a player skill. Monster skill.. still no. Abbadon is known to VERY VERY few. Thats why he was an unknown god, people. Barely anyone knows him. Like.. 1 in a million. I doubt that he would let his followers mimic his image, either.

o_o; Creeepy.
Well, it would make sense of Abbadon was in both campaigns, yet.. not really -directly- involved. Like Abbadon's Mouth..

Abbadon means Hell, Hell's Mouth.
They probably had not even THOUGHT about naming the sixth god when they came up with that mundane and obvious name for an outpost :\
More SPECULATION FTW:
The Fortune Teller that corrupts Shiro...Looks ALOT like Verash's Old teacher that corrupts her into following Abbadon... By "Alot" I imply that they are the same person
Yes, Shiro killed the emperor ages ago, but disguised "little old ladies" are often more than they seem - IE: not human so "age" doesn't apply. Maybe an agent of Abbadon thats been working for centeries here to finally get him out?

Actually the whole "We accidently started the terror..." thing was done in propecies, when you mistakenly release the Titans.

ya, the best they could do with nightfall is have an epic battle-to-end-all-battles in the realm of torment. though an invasion of kourna from the sea would be very cool, kinda like a d-day kind of thing.
